Paper transport

When the origami series began we couldnt avoid the inevitable: the paper plane. Yep, and we did it and in silver too. And we just gotta throw a couple of ships in there too. And we couldnt resist photoshop-ing it. And look how compulsive paper folding can be!

From Points to Lines to Form

*refer to post below for images*
Take a strip of paper and fold it into a busload of ideas! A cost-efficient and effective time-killer that led us to this series by turning a singular strip into 3-dimensional forms then topping it off with a gleamy Swarovski crystal that's sweeter than ice-cream! What a mouthful, then again, better to think twice when throwing those papers away eh?

Folded Friends from Centimeter Design!

Most of us first came into contact with origami while we were... okay then it's not so long ago. It is highly liberating as the hands form paper into planes, jumping frogs, hats, flowers, cash cheques and just about anything. (okay we made one of that up.) And it is just as intimate as it is liberating, you get to make whatever you desire (there's a book of erotic origami, whatever that means and not that we know what's between the covers tsk tsk~)

One aspect of our art is to conserve the sweeter parts of our what our little brains can recall, and with this instance, the paper is superseded by sterling silver. This is just the start of our conservation project, do keep a lookout for more to come in this series as we attempt to resolve our little fetish with paper/silver!

hey that's Rudolph!

santa claus is coming to town, or is he? and when? we cant say for sure (though he might be more concerned with Copenhagen right now) but local malls have been readily assuring us he's on the way, somewhere.

while waiting, we've been soaked up in the seasonal spirit and put some pieces together. 7 days more till we find out where our jolly old Santa is (more specifically, what our presents would be!)

jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells rock!...

Anniversary

It was quiet but we utterly enjoyed our thanksgiving dinner, and especially so as we blow the candle out for the porch's first birthday too. We offer our silent thanks to you who have been with us the entire year.

A sneak preview from Centimeter Design, and we hope to serve you better each time. Thanks, once again.

More postcards!

The latest offerings from our treasure chest of politically-incorrectness. Don't we just love this city? ^^

Christmas charms!

on this last friday the thirteenth of 2009, the porch is beginning to hear the rustles of Christmas! we want to kickstart the festive mood with charms that might, well, charm a smile out of you. ^^ (we especially love the reindeers!) we can't wait to smell christmas dinner already!

what's your sign?

Doodling is the one thing we're absolutely fond of, and it so happened that we're capable of transforming doodles into wearables too. Notwithstanding our addiction to Animal Planet, it was decided to create a chinese Zodiac series (of animals, what else!) that will be ubiquitous but still maintain a personal touch.

Too often we chuckle at our own creations, but this will probably tickle you too. Meh...^^

Beware of Fraud(s).

It has come to our attention that some of our inhouse design were being haggled elsewhere other than the porch. Much as we'd love more exposure, but we will have to concede that right now we are retailing them as LIMITED collection pieces only.

Please take note of the logo (above) that is laser-engraved onto all products under Centimeter Design. It is our assurance to you of the quality and care that we provide.
It is also a mark of the hours and effort we had poured into researching, designing and producing. Any lookalike found anywhere else is a design stolen from us.

We're deeply grateful to those of you who have been part of our little clique of Centimeter Design collectors, and we'll continue to design with heart and pride!

Our little way of sharing the occasion with you.

Everyone has their particular way of celebrating festivities, some bake, some decorate, but we do it the only way we know how; through jewellery.

So here we go, some specially designed sterling beads for our first Halloween on the porch. A little something from us.

11 more days!

yes, yes we're counting down to Halloween! it is traditionally believed that looking scary should aid in warding off malignant spirits, and that is the best excuse to put on costumes/clothes that we wouldnt dare to wear given any other day,
in the meantime, the perky little brains on the porch decided to give it a little modern tweak and thus, Halloween-themed Charms!

1+1+1+1+1+

Calculate the surface area of each ring.

If you dont feel inclined to do so, congratulations! You are on the same page as us. Much as we hated the "algebraic, aliquot, analytic, arithmetical, bilinear, binary, calculable, centesimal, commensurable, computable, concentric, conjugate, decadic, decimal, denary, differential, divisible, duodecimal, exponential, factorial, figurate, fingerfull, fluxional, fractional, geodesic, hundredth, icosian, imaginary, impossible, incommensurable, incommensurate, integral, irrational, logarithmic, logometric, millesimal, more or less, more than one, negative, not alone, numerable, numeral, numerical, oblique, octifid, plural, positive, prime, proportional, quadragesimal, quadratic, quadrille, quantitative, radical, rational, real, reciprocal, sesquilateral, sexagenary, sexagesimal, statistical, surd, tabular, tenth, three-dimensional, tithe, transfinite, truncated, twelfth, two-dimensional, upwards of, variable, vicenary, vigesimal (-snipped from dictionary.com-)" aspects of our tender years in school, we maintain a sense of awe/frustration/intrigue/annoyance towards Mathematics. This new series from Centimeter Design, is a zany play on geometry: avid attention to shape and form, surface treatment and contrasts, in generating our signature of sophisticating absurdity. If anything, it has been a satisfying attempt at translating the imaginings of maths into a physical structure, albeit a really handy one.

You dont even have to believe a word we tell you; just wear this chunk of charms and ask your pals to calculate its surface area.

A day in June

June. Summer.
Most of us will be figuring out where to go for holidays or which sale to spend those $$ on, and we shall be incessantly draining brain juice to cook up new surprises. More on that later. (else it wouldn't be a surprise...)
Also, we'll like to dedicate a shoutout to Kathleen: Congratulations on your first grandson! Savour every moment of it!

Extolling the spirit of fun: Happy April Fools'!

How to wear a nail around your finger looking fashionably sound?
With a dash of ingenuity, a teaspoon of atrocity and a whole lot of heart,
Centimeter Design boldly presents you a concoction of absurdity on this particular April Fools' Day!

Disclaimer : This is not a joke.

Neoteric Orient

Neoteric Orient was really an excuse to put the striking combination of red and black together, and it eventually turns into a celebration of spring as we had fun stringing sterling silver and cotton.

Fabrications

We like to keep our hands busy on the porch and after fiddling with our tools for awhile, we present you the first of our handmade series.

* [ Fabrications is an idiosyncratic assemblage of materials, achieving an eclectic style. Great for you who enjoy the quirky kind of fun! ]
